About the Role:

The Business Development Manager will play a crucial part in driving business growth by maintaining and developing customer relationships. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of industry legislation, standards, and principles applicable to Local Authorities and Utilities in the Highways sector.

The position involves a hybrid working model with a mix of office, homework, and client engagement. Occasional travel may be required, including overnight stays and/or travel, but this is not regular.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing relationships with customers from system user to director level.
  • Providing clear, honest, and open guidance when a positive outcome is not possible.
  • Undertaking contract negotiations when needed.
  • Facilitating and delivering account meetings with formal agendas, minutes, and action plans.
  • Maintaining and updating customer information in the CRM system.
  • Developing and upkeeping individual customer roadmaps, including action plans, targets, future plans, projects, business risks, and threats.
  • Documenting and understanding customer-specific configurations and quirks.
  • Achieving 100% accuracy in requirements gathering and sales quotations.
  • Managing the full lifecycle of sales, from quotations to delivery and invoicing.
  • Delivering presentations and interacting with customers at company conferences and seminars.
  • Providing aid with sales proposals, tender responses, and demonstrations of our software.
  • Developing a good general understanding of all areas of our software to illustrate key features and functions.
  • Working closely with subject matter experts to supply specialist consultancy when required.
  • Monitoring activities undertaken by the customer and internally throughout large projects.
  • Managing smaller projects directly to ensure services are organised and delivered on time.
  • Understanding standard computing principles, such as web applications and REST interfaces.
  • Excellent time management skills, team working, and people skills.
  • Proven experience in key account management.

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
