Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Lead to join our Cash App team and support the continued build out of our Compliance program. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, developing, and leading a compliance operations team responsible for conducting in-depth compliance reviews as part of our due diligence process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee KYC/Sanction team operations, including training, hiring, coaching, and managing staff as well as program development.
  • Develop and maintain procedures applicable to the team.
  • Identify training opportunities; design/coordinate the development of training materials.
  • Iterate on existing workflows, and streamline/enhance operational efficiency.
  • Work with other Compliance Leads to drive strategic planning on team growth, organizational structure, focus areas, and quarterly goals.
  • Understand regulatory landscape and compliance requirements; with emphasis on applicable Compliance and AML requirements that include customer identification, due diligence best practices.
  • Create, monitor, and execute against key operational metrics and implement solutions with COM program managers regarding any issues identified.
  • Liaise with program management on ongoing technology, and process/workflow change initiatives and ensure appropriate team adoption.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on AML regulatory changes and landscape.
  • Provide guidance and insight on account escalations, including handling account escalations from junior team members.
  • Drive collaboration with Support, Risk, and other operations teams within Block.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a AML senior compliance/compliance operations role with a financial services firm, preferably in the payment or Fintech space.
  • 3+ years people management experience, including coaching and developing compliance specialists/analysts.
  • Strong operational knowledge in executing and running a sound Compliance program, preferably with hands-on knowledge of MSB regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with AML laws, regulations, and guidance (for the UK, POCA, MLR, FCA Handbook, and/or JMLSG Guidance).
  • Direct experience working with examiners and auditors required.
  • A strong analytical and metrics-driven approach to create substantiated solutions and efficiency.
  • Strong strategic vision and leadership skills with proven ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent Block at industry events.
  • Self-starter who can perform flawlessly with minimal direction.
  • Ability to present and communicate findings to senior leadership.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust quickly as things change.
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguous environments and exhibit flexibility in navigating from current state to proposed solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as an operations lead.
  • Relevant industry certifications (CAMS, ACFCS, ICA, CRCM).
  • Strong knowledge of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
  • Fluency in a language other than English.
  • Experience in international markets.
  • Experience with SQL and/or Looker.
