We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team at Venatu Recruitment Group. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed design information on a range of product types, working collaboratively with our in-house Engineering and Operations teams to ensure the highest possible standards are met.
Key Responsibilities- Develop designs to an agreed specification, meeting deadlines and design criteria, and liaising with suppliers.
- Develop designs for projects from initial enquiry, producing costings and producing BOMs (Bill of Materials), with final design sign off prior to handover to the project team.
- Coordinate the daily workload of the design team and multiproduct enquiries.
- Lead and/or be directly involved in R&D projects related to Air Handling equipment and solutions, including cost engineering, core functionality development, evolutionary upgrades, framing system improvements, and certification programmes.
- Work as part of a multi-discipline engineering team to develop complex product solutions.
- Drive process management efficiencies and improvements.
- Develop and improve handover procedures to post-order engineering teams.
- Liaise with the drawing department to produce accurate working drawings for production and sales proposal drawings.
- Provide technical advice to assist with projects and products, including functionality, performance, efficiency, lifespan, quality, and cost.
- Provide technical support to the pre-sales team, including site visits and client meetings.
- Mentor and develop the design team, with an emphasis on personal development, positivity, and employee engagement.
- Oversee the day-to-day work completed by the team, including specifications, designs, and BOMs.
- Represent the team, providing updates on project progress, new technologies, new product development, and technical and risk management implications.
- Keep drawing schedules up to date for issued and received drawings.
- Manage risk effectively, collaborating with all departments and adapting to situations.
- Encourage and support the company's continuous improvement ethos by carrying out technical design reviews, testing regimes, and analysis of new and existing products to improve efficiency and quality.
- Investigate potential product development opportunities and lead the prototyping and testing of new products.
- Maximise value engineering opportunities.
- Keep up to date with new technology, current and forthcoming legislative obligations, and provide a clear roadmap for new opportunities for the business.
- Promote and coordinate technical knowledge within the company, including technical knowledge sharing and harvesting.
- Present to other teams and provide updates on new products to increase the knowledge base of peers, including external CPDs.
- Deal with and manage customer technical requests in a professional manner.
- Maintain a high level of quality in accordance with Company policies.
- Provide technical support and training to internal and external customers.
- Manage workload proactively to achieve objectives and ensure activity schedules are kept regularly up to date.
- Manage the development and integration of MP Air Pro Software, ensuring the software and database are kept up to date with the latest information.
- Experience in design of air handling units.
- Experience of fault finding, diagnosing issues with air handling units.
- Strong understanding of production and assembly processes within a fabrication environment.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
