Senior Design Engineer

Venatu Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our client's team. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for producing detailed design information for a range of air handling products, working collaboratively with the engineering and operations teams to ensure the highest possible standards are met.

• Develop designs to meet agreed specifications, including meeting deadlines and liaising with suppliers.
• Produce costings and bill of materials for projects, with final design sign-off prior to handover to the project team.
• Coordinate the daily workload of the design team and manage multiproduct enquiries.
• Lead and/or be directly involved in R&D projects related to air handling equipment and solutions.
• Work as part of a multi-discipline engineering team to develop complex product solutions.
• Drive process management efficiencies and improvements.
• Develop and improve handover procedures to post-order engineering teams.
• Liaise with the drawing department to produce accurate working drawings for production and sales proposal drawings.
• Provide technical advice to assist with projects and products, including functionality, performance, efficiency, lifespan, quality, and cost.
• Provide technical support to the pre-sales team, including site visits and client meetings.
• Mentor and develop the design team, with an emphasis on personal development, positivity, and employee engagement.
• Oversee the day-to-day work completed by the team, including specifications, designs, and BOMs.
• Represent the team, providing updates on project progress, new technologies, new product development, and technical and risk management implications.
• Keep drawing schedules up to date for issued and received drawings.
• Manage risk effectively, collaborating with all departments and adapting to situations.
• Encourage and support the company's continuous improvement ethos by carrying out technical design reviews, testing regimes, and analysis of new and existing products to improve efficiency and quality.
• Investigate potential product development opportunities and lead the prototyping and testing of new products.
• Maximise value engineering opportunities.
• Keep up to date with new technology, current and forthcoming legislative obligations, and provide a clear roadmap for new opportunities for the business.
• Promote and coordinate technical knowledge within the company, including technical knowledge sharing and harvesting.
• Present to other teams and provide updates on new products to increase the knowledge base of peers, including external CPDs.
• Deal with and manage customer technical requests in a professional manner.
• Maintain a high level of quality in accordance with Company policies.
• Provide technical support and training to internal and external customers.
• Manage the development and integration of MP Air Pro Software, ensuring the software and database are kept up to date with the latest information.
• Perform any other ad hoc duties required for the smooth running of the business.

• Experience in design of air handling units.
• Experience of fault finding and diagnosing issues with air handling units.
• Strong understanding of production and assembly processes within a fabrication environment.
