Senior Design Engineer

Venatu Recruitment Group is supporting a leading client in the air management industry, offering a diverse product range with an unrivalled reputation for quality.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to produce general arrangement and detailed manufacturing drawings, working collaboratively with our in-house Engineering and Operations teams.

• Develop designs to meet agreed specifications, including meeting deadlines, design criteria, and liaising with suppliers.
• Produce designs for projects from initial enquiry, including costings and bill of materials, with final design sign off prior to handover to the project team.
• Coordinate the daily workload of the design team and manage multiproduct enquiries.
• Lead and/or be directly involved in R&D projects related to Air Handling equipment and solutions, including cost engineering, core functionality development, and certification programmes.
• Work as part of a multi-discipline engineering team to develop complex product solutions.
• Drive process management efficiencies and improvements.
• Develop and improve handover procedures to post-order engineering teams.
• Produce accurate working drawings for production and sales proposal drawings.
• Provide technical advice to assist with projects and products, including functionality, performance, efficiency, lifespan, quality, and cost.
• Provide technical support to the pre-sales team, including site visits and client meetings.
• Mentor and develop the design team, with an emphasis on personal development, positivity, and employee engagement.
• Oversee the day-to-day work completed by the team, including specifications, designs, and bill of materials.
• Represent the team, providing updates on project progress, new technologies, and technical and risk management implications.
• Manage risk effectively, collaborating with all departments and adapting to situations.
• Encourage and support the company's continuous improvement ethos, carrying out technical design reviews, testing regimes, and analysis of new and existing products.
• Investigate potential product development opportunities and lead the prototyping and testing of new products.
• Maximise value engineering opportunities.
• Keep up to date with new technology, current and forthcoming legislative obligations, and provide a clear roadmap for new opportunities for the business.
• Promote and coordinate technical knowledge within the company, including technical knowledge sharing and harvesting.
• Present to other teams and provide updates on new products to increase the knowledge base of peers.
• Deal with and manage customer technical requests in a professional manner.
• Maintain a high level of quality in accordance with Company policies.
• Provide technical support and training to internal and external customers.
• Manage the development and integration of MP Air Pro Software, ensuring the software and database are kept up to date with the latest information.

• Experience in design of air handling units.
• Experience of fault finding, diagnosing issues with air handling units.
• Strong understanding of production and assembly processes within a fabrication environment.
