Pediatric Orthoptic Specialist

Are you a skilled orthoptist with expertise in complex pediatric cases? Do you want to work in a dynamic hospital setting, combining clinical development, research, and a diverse caseload?
This opportunity at Great Ormond Street Hospital is ideal for experienced or newly qualified orthoptists seeking to develop their skills. As an autonomous practitioner, you will assess, diagnose, and manage patients with complex conditions.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with consultants, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals. Your exceptional communication skills will enable you to handle challenging situations effectively.

Key Responsibilities- Manage a wide range of pediatric cases, including complex and high-needs patients.
- Provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans for patients referred to the Orthoptic department.
- Contribute to clinical audit and ongoing professional development, ensuring best practices and patient care standards.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Possession of an Orthoptic degree or diploma and registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
- Experience in pediatric orthoptics, visual field assessment, and clinical governance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
We offer a competitive salary of approximately £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also benefit from ongoing training, mentorship, and opportunities for career development within our progressive and supportive ophthalmology department.
