Job Summary

Norfolk State University seeks an experienced academic leader to serve as the Chair of the Department of Computer Science. The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarly achievement, teaching, and service, as well as experience in academic program leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum oversight, program review, and assessment
  • Faculty and staff workload assignment
  • Course management and budget development
  • Maintenance of personnel records and evaluation of faculty and staff
  • Oversight of departmental committees and report preparation
  • Compliance with accreditation standards and university policies
  • Identification of program outcomes and infusion of technology into the curriculum
  • Collaboration with external partners and participation in professional development activities
Requirements
  • Doctorate in Computer Science or a related field
  • Record of scholarly achievement and teaching effectiveness
  • Demonstrated experience in academic program leadership
  • Three or more years of experience in higher education preferred
