About the Role

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking highly motivated and skilled individuals to join its Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism department as a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in supporting endocrinology and diabetes services across the trust, including general medicine and on-call.

Key Responsibilities

The Endocrinology service provides secondary and tertiary care to patients with a wide range of endocrine conditions. The department combines provision of a clinical service with an active, world-leading research programme. The services we provide are nationally and internationally recognised, including those for patients with pituitary disorders, thyroid, metabolic bone and calcium disorders, adrenal disorders, reproductive disorders and neuroendocrine tumours.

The Diabetes service provides secondary care diabetes support across Birmingham and Solihull and specialist support to the tertiary services within UHB. A range of inpatient and outpatient services are delivered by a multi-disciplinary team of specialist staff, including consultants, nurses, dietitians and podiatrists.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have MRCP or equivalent and CCT in General Medicine / Diabetes / Endocrinology or be within six months of achieving this. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
