Corporate Financial Accountant

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with proven technical ability and strong analytical skills to join NHS Blood and Transplant's Financial Accounting and Control Team for 12 months. This role will provide valuable experience and support for the year-end process and audit.
You will support the Senior Financial Accountant on a range of technical, compliance, and regulatory issues, as well as financial accounting processes. Ensuring completeness of documentation, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and applying technical accounting skills for complex aspects of assets revaluation and Trust Fund Accounts production are key responsibilities.
Main Duties- Identify and resolve non-compliance with policies, including taxation impacts, through addressing non-compliance or policy redesign.
- Manage and produce the Trust Fund Accounts, ensuring prompt and accurate reporting to the committee and audit submission.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor the losses and special payments register.
- Provide reports for senior finance management and liaise with External Audit on losses and special payments reporting.
- Act as key contact with Internal Audit on audit reports, responses, and outstanding issues, reviewing recommendations and implementing changes.
- Follow up on implementation of agreed NHSBT management comments and prepare reports for the Governance and Audit Committee.
- Lead the investigation of National Fraud Initiative outputs.
- Support the production of statutory year-end accounts.
Occasional travel to NHSBT sites may be required to meet the needs of the post.
About YouExperience and Knowledge- Detailed knowledge of finance and audit.
- Detailed knowledge of financial control environment.
- Wide experience of computer finance packages and internet.
- Up-to-date knowledge of internal and external audit standards.
- Detailed knowledge of technical accounting standards.
- Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages.
- Willing to work towards achieving Counter Fraud Specialist Accreditation.
- Willing to work towards achieving fully qualified accountant.
- Recognised Professional Accountancy Qualification to Post Graduate Diploma level or equivalent demonstrable relevant experience.
- Possess a valid driving licence, allowing you to drive in the UK.
- Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
