12-Month Fixed Term Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with proven technical ability and strong analytical skills to join NHS Blood and Transplant's Financial Accounting and Control Team for 12 months. The role will provide valuable experience and support for the year-end process and audit.

You will work closely with the Senior Financial Accountant on a range of technical, compliance, and regulatory issues, as well as financial accounting processes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying non-compliance with policies and resolving issues through addressing non-compliance or redesign of the policy.
  • Managing and producing the Trust Fund Accounts, ensuring prompt and accurate reporting to the committee and audit.
  • Developing, maintaining, and monitoring the losses and special payments register.
  • Providing reports for senior finance management and liaising with External Audit on losses and special payments reporting.
  • Coordinating audit reports, audit responses, and outstanding audit issues, reviewing audit recommendations, management comments, and timescales.
  • Implementing agreed NHSBT management comments and preparing reports for the Governance and Audit Committee.
  • Investigating the outputs from the National Fraud Initiative.
  • Supporting in the production of the statutory year-end accounts.

You will be required to undertake occasional travel to any NHSBT sites to meet the requirements of the post.

About You

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Detailed knowledge of finance and audit.
  • Detailed knowledge of financial control environment.
  • Wide experience of computer finance packages and internet.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of internal and external audit standards.
  • Detailed knowledge of technical accounting standards.
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages.
