About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Accountant to join our team at NHS Blood and Transplant. As a key member of our Financial Accounting and Control Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our financial records and reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Financial Accountant in preparing and reviewing financial statements, including the Trust Fund Accounts.
  • Manage and maintain the losses and special payments register, providing reports for senior finance management and liaising with External Audit.
  • Act as key contact with Internal Audit, coordinating audit reports, audit responses, and outstanding audit issues.
  • Develop and implement financial control processes to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Provide technical accounting advice and support to the team.
Requirements
  • Recognised Professional Accountancy Qualification to Post Graduate Diploma level or equivalent demonstrable relevant experience.
  • Up to date knowledge of internal and external audit standards.
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
