Canal Operations Specialist

Our Waterway Operative role is a unique opportunity to join the Canal & River Trust team and contribute to the maintenance, conservation, and improvement of our waterway network.
About the Role:
This is an outdoor role that requires a high level of physical fitness and the ability to work in all weather conditions. As a Waterway Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repair works to the waterway infrastructure, providing customer service through the operation of the Trust's assets, and undertaking key duties associated with the maintenance of the waterway and waterside.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out maintenance and repair works to the waterway infrastructure.
- Provide customer service through the operation of the Trust's assets.
- Undertake key duties associated with the maintenance of the waterway and waterside.
- Protect the natural and historic environment associated with the waterways.
- Provide a first level of response for reactive works.
- Work alongside and lead volunteers to deliver high-quality works.
- Support asset inspections and identify and report any structure failures.
- Undertake work in a productive and efficient manner.
- Assist in the planning of all work.
Requirements:
We are looking for a highly motivated and physically fit individual who is able to work in all weather conditions. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team. Experience working in manual/construction/outdoor environments is desirable, as is experience using plant/tools and equipment.
