Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Household Claims Handler to join our growing Claims department at Acorn Insurance and Financial Services Limited.

About the Job

As a Household Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of claims from first notice of loss (FNOL) through to settlement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish the facts of an incident or peril from the caller or customer
  • Accurately check all details of a claim after every call
  • Manage claims from FNOL stage through to settlement, including instructing third-party suppliers and chasing responses
  • Identify and investigate potentially fraudulent claims
  • Check underwriter requirements at claim inception and throughout the lifecycle of the claim
  • Manage customer and third-party expectations, including signposting where applicable
  • Make proactive and correct assessments of indemnity positions
  • Accurately assess the quantum of claims presented
  • Apply accurate reserves in line with company guidelines

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of two years claims handling experience, preferably in household claims
  • Ability to interpret policy wording, terms, and conditions
  • Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including rapport building
  • Ability to fact-find and analyse information to make accurate decisions
