Meter Reader Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Meter Reader to join our team at United Utilities. As a Meter Reader, you will be responsible for collecting meter readings, customer information, and other associated data to assist billing and customer service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect meter readings and customer information using company-provided equipment.
  • Visit customers' premises to accurately collect data and provide excellent customer service.
  • Escalate customer issues and report safety concerns in accordance with company procedures.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to optimize scheduling routes and service delivery.
  • Make informed decisions on meter asset defects and identify opportunities to offer customers value-added services.
Requirements:
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to accurately record data and use IT equipment.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing environment with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven track record of achieving performance targets with minimum supervision.
  • Flexible attitude to work, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivation and self-management with good customer service skills.
