We're seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Global Sponsorships & Experiential Marketing team in the motorsport vertical. As Director, you'll be responsible for developing and executing strategic partnerships that deliver exceptional experiences for our Card Members.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute motorsport partnership activations, including access and benefits for Card Members, live activation planning and logistics, branding, partnership relations, and utilization of contractual media and sponsorship assets.
- Lead a team of three Manager/Analysts dedicated to Motorsports partnerships, providing guidance and support to ensure successful execution.
- Collaborate with internal and agency partners to deliver best-in-class plans, including with Amex's internal agency to design end-to-end event experiences with partners.
- Manage large-scale budgets in partnership with the Finance team, ensuring close understanding of internal processes and ensuring project comes in at or under budget.
- Develop relationships across the American Express enterprise to further business and brand goals in creative ways for both business and consumer customers.
- Communicate regular planning updates and full activation plans in a strategic and clear manner to American Express senior executives.
- Represent American Express within the experiential marketing and motorsport industries to deepen relationships, knowledge, and development to continue to be on the cutting edge of customer experience.
- Significant work experience with focus area in sponsorship, large-scale events, and experiential marketing/partnerships, with substantial motorsports industry experience required.
- Proven track record in managing partners, cross-functional teams, and agency partners.
- Proven track record in managing direct reports, building positive team cultures, and acting as a mentor for more junior team members.
- Ability to balance 'big picture' thinking with tactical execution.
- Ability to move projects forward and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.
- Ability to work under pressure with compressed timelines.
- Strong communication skills, including crafting and delivering presentations, as well as executive presence.
- Focus on innovation and constant appetite to know and learn more about the industry, including experiential marketing, technology, payment innovations, and competitive landscape.
- Strong measurement and analytical skills.
