Pharmacy Technician Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician Specialist to join our team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality aseptic service and pre-packs to meet the needs of the trust and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with other professionals, including nurses and clinicians, to provide a quality service.
- Coordinate the supply of Chemotherapy to the chemotherapy day unit, ensuring products are supplied in a timely manner.
- Report to the unit manager any deviations from standard procedures and act upon any changes as required.
- Perform systems manager duties, ensuring the unit is within specification for manufacture, and report any deviations to senior staff.
- Participate in the compounding of all aseptic preparations, including chemotherapy, clinical trials, radiopharmaceuticals, and intravenous additives within the aseptic unit using isolator technology.
- Maintain personal competencies to check products manufactured within aseptic services.
- Complete worksheets, transcribing detailed information from chemocare prescriptions onto worksheets, carrying out complex calculations, and querying patient doses with Pharmacists to ensure accuracy in line with standard operating procedures.
- Undertake transcription, calculation, and reconciliation checks on manufacturing documents prior to use by any grade of staff.
- Follow set Departmental Standard Operating Procedures and Policies at all times.
- Maintain accuracy and skills in dispensary service.
- Participate in the extra hours Rota, four hours worked in a week around bank holidays and the 6 monthly commissioning.
- Participate in the weekend and bank holiday Rota.
- Participate in early and late finishes.
- Cross-site working as necessary.
- Undertake any other duties allocated by the Pharmacy Technical Services Manager.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- NVQ level 3 Pharmacy or equivalent/BSc Science subject.
Experience
- Supervision and training of staff.
- Demonstrates ability to work in a team.
Essential
- 1 year's aseptic experience.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of GMP.
