About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician Specialist to join our team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Technician Technical Services, you will play a critical role in the provision of aseptically dispensed products, including chemotherapy, radiopharmaceuticals, and intravenous additives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with nurses and clinicians to provide a quality service, ensuring the timely supply of chemotherapy products to the chemotherapy day unit.
  • Coordinate the supply of Chemotherapy to the chemotherapy day unit, ensuring products are supplied in a timely manner.
  • Report any deviations from standard procedures to the unit manager and take corrective action as required.
  • Perform systems manager duties, ensuring the unit is within specification for manufacture, and report any deviations to senior staff.
  • Participate in the compounding of all aseptic preparations, including chemotherapy, clinical trials, radiopharmaceuticals, and intravenous additives within the aseptic unit using isolator technology.
  • Maintain personal competencies to check products manufactured within aseptic services.
  • Complete worksheets, transcribing detailed information from chemocare prescriptions onto worksheets, and carry out complex calculations.
  • Undertake transcription, calculation, and reconciliation checks on manufacturing documents prior to use by any grade of staff.
  • Follow set Departmental Standard Operating Procedures and Policies at all times.
  • Maintain accuracy and skills in dispensary service.
  • Participate in the extra hours Rota, four hours worked in a week around bank holidays and the 6 monthly commissioning.
  • Participate in the weekend and bank holiday Rota.
  • Participate in early and late finishes.
  • Cross-site working as necessary.
  • Undertake any other duties allocated by the Pharmacy Technical Services Manager.
