Senior Practitioner

Job Summary:
The Senior Practitioner - Family Support role is a critical position within Essex County Council's Family Support and Protection department. As a seasoned social work professional, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex cases, providing expert guidance and supervision to colleagues, and leading the team in the absence of the Team Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess complex social care needs and develop support plans for vulnerable individuals, children, and families.
- Contribute to the development of practice standards and provide expert advice and professional supervision to social workers.
- Manage a demanding caseload, maintaining accurate and timely records, reports, and presentations.
- Lead in case conferences, court sessions, meetings, and statutory reviews, providing a social care perspective.
- Conduct assessments and devise responses to safeguard and promote a child's welfare, intervening as needed.
- Build strong, effective working relationships within the Council, with partners, and voluntary agencies.
Requirements:
- Recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Work England as a registered social worker.
- Significant experience in social work, with a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and guidance.
- Mentoring and guiding Social Work students and newly qualified/experienced Social Work staff.
- Chairing meetings involving clients, family members, carers, and other multi-agency professionals.
- Strong relationships with partners, agencies, and the local community, with a focus on achieving shared objectives.
