Job Title: Senior Practitioner - Family Support

Essex County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Family Support and Protection team. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting vulnerable families and children, providing expert guidance and supervision to your colleagues.

About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of expertise and experience in social work. You will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex cases, providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues, and leading on duty services in the absence of the Team Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of complex cases, providing expert guidance and supervision to colleagues.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on social work practice and procedures.
  • Lead on duty services in the absence of the Team Manager, ensuring the effective delivery of services to vulnerable families and children.
  • Develop and implement effective support plans for vulnerable families and children, working in partnership with other agencies and stakeholders.
  • Conduct assessments and devise responses to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in social work, including experience of working with vulnerable families and children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritising tasks and managing competing demands.
