Job Title: Senior Practitioner - Family Support

Essex County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Family Support and Protection team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex cases, providing expert guidance and supervision to colleagues, and leading the team in the absence of the Team Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a demanding caseload of complex cases, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
  • Provide expert guidance and supervision to social workers, contributing to the development of practice standards.
  • Assess complex social care needs and develop support plans for vulnerable individuals, children, and families.
  • Operate within the statutory legal framework, determining when the threshold for statutory intervention has been reached.
  • Build strong, effective working relationships with partners, agencies, and the local community to achieve shared objectives.
  • Conduct assessments and devise responses to safeguard and promote a child's welfare, intervening as needed based on the assessment.
  • Lead in particular areas of practice and contribute to their development, bringing expertise to the table.
Requirements:
  • Recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Work England as a registered social worker.
  • Significant experience in social work, showcasing a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of all relevant legislation, regulations, and guidance.
  • Mentoring and guiding both Social Work students and newly qualified/experienced Social Work staff, being the subject matter expert in professional social work practice.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with partners, agencies, and the local community, achieving shared objectives and creating a supportive framework for children, young people, and families.
  • Clear decision-making and ability to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with intervention.
