As a Senior Project Assurance Manager at Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, you will play a pivotal role in protecting SSE's interests on Large Capital Projects (LCP) and Programmes.

About the Role

With a focus on effective assurance and governance, you will lead assurance reviews to accurately report the status of projects and their readiness to seek approvals in accordance with the Large Capital Projects Governance Framework.

You will also review and update the framework and its associated documentation to ensure it aligns with industry best practice and remains relevant to SSE Group requirements.

In this role, you will monitor project team performance, addressing recommendations arising from project assurance reviews, and support business units through identifying key trends to adopt lessons learned and best practices.

You will deliver Large Capital Projects Governance Framework induction workshops to support its consistent application by project teams across the SSE Group.

Additionally, you will work closely with business units to coordinate timely completion of project assurance reviews, including adherence to applicable governance and assurance requirements.

Requirements
  • A strong knowledge and experience of delivering capital projects in a utility, oil and gas or process environment, with familiarity with governance of capital projects >£40M or a strong corporate governance background.
  • An extensive experience and strong track record in at least one key project skillset, such as development, delivery, project management, procurement, or commercial management.
  • A professional, flexible, and capable individual who can quickly understand business processes, identify strengths and weaknesses, and have an understanding of key financial metrics and project economic modelling.
  • A confident and assured individual who can demonstrate project leadership and gravitas as an accomplished project manager or equivalent professional skillset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentational skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work efficiently and effectively to achieve tight deadlines while maintaining required discipline to produce high-quality output.

Large Capital Project Services (LCPS) is responsible for providing the Group Executive Committee and SSE's Business Unit Executive Committees with independent assurance services to inform investment decisions and manage the performance of large capital projects throughout their lifecycle.
