Job Summary

This is a temporary chef position at Barchester Healthcare, a leading healthcare provider in the UK with over 224 homes and hospitals. The job involves working in the kitchen of one of their care homes, delivering high-quality, seasonal dishes for the residents while ensuring a warm and welcoming environment.

Main Duties of the Job

The chef will work alongside the Head Chef to create nutritious and flavoursome menus, tailored to the residents' preferences. They will need to have a passion for fresh, seasonal produce and the ability to work within a budget. The role also involves managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, leading and motivating the team, and completing regular audits.

Job Responsibilities

As a Bank Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. Requirements
  • A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in helping lead and inspire a team
  • A good understanding of nutrition
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
  • The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home
  • Good understanding of HACCP
