Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working as part of the Antenatal and Newborn Screening team
  • Coordinating care and delivering genetic counselling for women who are carriers of Sickle Cell, Thalassemia, and other Haemoglobinopathies
  • Participating in failsafe checks to ensure screening has been completed for all eligible women who have consented to screening

The ideal candidate will have experience in infectious diseases service and developing and implementing guidelines. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential, with the ability to work under pressure and on own initiative. A good understanding of current issues in antenatal and new-born screening, such as Failsafe systems and national standards, is also necessary.
