Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated midwife to join our team as a perinatal specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for a 12-month developmental role working with our specialist perinatal mental health midwife. The successful candidate will have the chance to develop their skills and knowledge in this area while contributing to the care of women with complex needs.

The post holder will work closely with statutory agencies, such as social services and the police, to ensure seamless care across professional groups. They will also provide support and education to maternity and multidisciplinary staff, promoting safe and effective care for women and their babies.

The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching and mentoring junior staff, strong IT skills, and the ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately. They should be able to challenge clinical decisions in the best interest of patients and demonstrate awareness of maternity-related clinical governance.

Main Duties of the Job
  1. Work according to the NMC Code and relevant professional guidelines as a midwife with facilitation for a defined group of women and their babies with minimal supervision in the Maternity Care setting.
  2. The assessment of care and health education needs of women and their babies.
  3. Maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programmes of care within the necessary framework.
  4. Review midwifery practice and implement appropriate changes based on research/best practice.
  5. Develop and implement Audit, Quality and Risk Management initiatives.
  6. Participate in training programmes as appropriate and teach and act as a facilitator/preceptor to midwifery or non-midwifery staff.
  7. Implement Trust policies, evidence-based guidelines, and care pathways relevant to perinatal mental health.
  8. Maintain high-quality contemporaneous records of care, treatment, referrals, and outcomes.
  9. Contribute to the specialist midwife clinical support rota as required to meet service needs.

Salary

The salary for this position is £44,806 - £53,134 per annum inclusive of HCAS, making it a competitive offer for those looking to advance their careers in midwifery.
