RCVS Ethics Review Panel Committee Member

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is seeking to appoint two new lay members to its Ethics Review Panel (ERP). As a lay member, you will play a crucial role in reviewing research projects involving veterinary surgeons and registered veterinary nurses, ensuring that they meet the highest ethical and scientific standards.
Key Responsibilities- Review applications for ethics approval, assessing their scientific soundness and addressing any ethical or legal issues.
- Attend meetings of the ERP to discuss applications and contribute to best practice going forward.
- Work collaboratively with other ERP members to make decisions on ethics approval.
- Experience of professional regulation and ethics, with a background in clinical veterinary practice or research.
- Ability to review applications for scientific soundness and ethics content.
- Enthusiasm for evidence-based veterinary medicine and the advancement of veterinary science.
- Good written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Post-holders can claim a loss of earnings allowance, and reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
- Appointment to the role will be for 3 years and will be renewable at the discretion of the RCVS.
