Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Culinary Specialist to prepare healthy meals within our educational facilities.
The ideal candidate will oversee the procurement, preparation, cooking, and serving of meals, while also managing and guiding staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook all meals in compliance with The Healthy Eating in Schools Regulations 2013 and established management standards. Adhere to agreed schedules and comply with all Food and Health and Safety Regulations.
- Set up the serving area and ensure food is presented attractively while practicing portion control according to guidelines.
- When necessary, wash dishes, cutlery, and kitchen tools, ensuring adherence to good Health and Safety practices.
- Maintain a clean working environment by regularly cleaning all equipment, storage areas, and ancillary spaces.
- Organize, supervise, and train staff to ensure an equitable distribution of tasks and maintain service quality. Identify training needs for both staff and self.
- Manage stock levels, ensuring the secure storage of goods.
Required Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in catering, particularly in meal preparation and cooking.
- Familiarity with current legislative requirements relevant to kitchen and catering operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent NVQ 2/3 or relevant experience.
- Level 3 Award in food safety and catering or equivalent (HACCP).
- A valid driving license and access to a suitable vehicle.
