Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Support Educator to join our Computing Department at Bedford College. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of our students.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist students with their educational, personal, and social needs, tailoring support to meet individual requirements.
  • Provide first aid and administer medication where necessary, adhering to college procedures.
  • Promote inclusivity by supporting students in learning activities and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and Personal and Pastoral Support Plans.
  • Assess and record students' progress, using monitoring results to inform further support work.
  • Support teaching staff in delivering English, maths, or other curriculum areas as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • English and Maths GCSE grade A-C or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Minimum six months' experience working with children/young people in an educational setting within the last five years.
  • Understanding of educational needs and ability to plan and develop educational activities.
  • Collaborative working skills and ability to work independently.
  • Basic IT skills for use in a classroom setting.
