Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Maintenance Technician with experience in building services maintenance and repairs to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. As a Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for undertaking planned preventative maintenance and repair works across the university estate, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard in a timely manner.

Your primary duties will include:

  • Undertaking engineering (HVAC/mechanical and plumbing) maintenance, repair, and installation works as required by supervisors or management.
  • Responding quickly to priority tasks, undertaking fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Carrying out minor project works as required.
  • Replacing or cleaning of filters as required.

You will also be expected to ensure that all work carried out complies with relevant risk assessments, safety legislation, and University safety policies and procedures.

In addition to your technical skills and knowledge, we are looking for someone who can interact with customers in a courteous and efficient manner, produce written reports, and contribute to a positive safety culture within the team.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised apprenticeship in core trade mechanical/plumbing.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of working in building services maintenance and repairs within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Good written skills, including the ability to produce written reports.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team or on own initiative.
  • Understanding personal and team responsibility under Health & Safety legislation.
