Job Overview

The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites experienced midwives to join its esteemed Infant Feeding Team. As a key member of this multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in promoting evidence-based infant feeding practices throughout the unit. Your expertise will be crucial in providing infant feeding support, education, and audit to help the unit achieve Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation.

Your primary responsibilities will include supporting the team in delivering high-quality infant feeding services, ensuring excellent service user experience, and timely management of feeding difficulties. You will work closely with the Infant Feeding Coordinators, Postnatal Ward Managers, Community Midwives, and Matron for Public Health to achieve shared goals. Additionally, you will have opportunities to develop your skills through training and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

·Promote, support, protect, and normalise breastfeeding in line with the Maternity Infant Feeding Policy.

·Ensure all women receive support and information to make informed choices regarding infant feeding.

·Motivate, inspire, and empower staff to achieve best practice in infant feeding.

·Act as an infant feeding resource within the clinical area, supporting staff to enable mothers to carry out effective feeding.

·Collaborate with the Infant Feeding Specialist and the rest of the Infant Feeding Team to initiate new ideas, practices, and approaches to direct clinical care of mothers and babies.

·Work with the Infant Feeding Specialist and the IFT to provide infant feeding training throughout the maternity service for all staff who come into contact with new mothers.
