About the Role

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing expert care and support to patients with breast cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced practice nursing care to patients with breast cancer, including holistic assessment, personalized care planning, and coordination of care.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery and effective communication.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based clinical guidelines and protocols to improve patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of education and training programs for healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Registered nurse on the relevant part of the NMC register.
  • Post-registration qualification within the area of specialty.
  • Extensive post-registration experience within the specialist area.
  • Knowledge of current issues within the acute health service.
  • Understanding of personal accountability.
  • Confident of own knowledge base, aware of learning needs, and seeks guidance when appropriate.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered on MSc Pathway - completion of HTPA Competencies.
  • Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed.
  • Counselling qualification.
  • Palliative care course.
  • IT training.
  • Change Management, clinical practice development.
  • Multidisciplinary team working.
  • Interest in nurse-led care.
  • Organisational/strategic awareness.
  • Clear about professional accountability and autonomous practice components of role.
  • Able to critically review and communicate clinical information.
