About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at North East Autism Society. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting autistic and neurodivergent children and young people to access highly personalised programmes of study in one of our specialist schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with their educational and personal needs, promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans.
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and delivery, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, helping them to manage their emotions and develop coping strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
Requirements
  • A passion for working with children and young people, particularly those with autism and neurodiverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritising tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Compliance with North East Autism Society's policies and procedures, including safeguarding and data protection.
