Assistant Transport Planner

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Transport Planner. Our client, a busy haulage company based in Stockport, requires someone to contribute to the smooth operation of a varied fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Route planning to ensure efficient transportation of goods
  • Processing abnormal load movement orders with precision and accuracy
  • Liaising with drivers to manage their daily activities in compliance with the working time directive and working hours
  • Providing excellent customer service through effective communication
  • Generating new sales leads and maximising backload opportunities
  • Handling various administrative tasks such as processing PODs and orders
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of vehicle types and capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer usage
  • Familiarity with system-based planning tools (ideally Roadrunner)
  • Strong administrative and customer service skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Good knowledge of the UK geography
  • Familiarity with the rules regarding the working time directive and driver's hours
  • CPC qualification would be an advantage
