  • Support residents' emotional, mental, and physical health needs to build self-esteem.
  • Respect privacy while maintaining a duty of care to ensure living spaces are clean and safe.
  • Provide personal care for residents with disabilities and complex needs, including bathing, toileting, dressing, changing, and feeding as appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained in accordance with GDPR guidelines.
  • Manage complex and challenging behavior in an assertive, restorative, and sensitive manner.
  • Work to reduce the likelihood of residents becoming criminalized, encouraging restorative approaches and outcomes.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to change, working on a rota basis, including sleep-ins, early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with colleagues, external agencies, families, and the wider public.
  • Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills.
  • Improve own practice through observation, evaluation, discussion, and development programs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, knowing when to seek help and advice.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the service by attending relevant meetings, training days, and events as requested.
Requirements
  • Recent experience working as a Residential Practitioner for a local authority or children's care home.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and internal council IT systems.
  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with service users, families, carers, and colleagues.
  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent.
  • A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service.
