We are seeking a seasoned Compliance Advisory Manager to lead the development and maintenance of our comprehensive compliance program in the UK market.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join American Express as a key member of our UK Market Compliance Office. As a Compliance Advisory Manager, you will support the Senior Manager in driving compliance excellence across all Lines of Business (LOB) and functions. You will be responsible for ensuring our compliance program is robust, sustainable, and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the Compliance Program for all LOBs in the UK, including completing Compliance Risk Assessments, drafting the Annual Compliance Plan, and advising on Issue Management and Regulatory Change Management.
  • Provide expert compliance advice and guidance to all LOBs in the design and implementation of products, customer interactions/marketing, processes, and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support the practical implementation of new regulatory directives impacting all LOBs in the UK and remediation activities as required.
  • Develop and/or assist in the development and maintenance of compliance-related policies.
  • Coordinate and conduct customized training and communication plans to meet compliance needs.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Five plus years of experience as a Compliance Manager in an advisory capacity with working knowledge of the UK Retail Banking/Payments industry.
  • Proven ability to understand legal and regulatory concepts and convert them into relevant, practical business requirements and compliance solutions.
  • Self-motivated, energetic team player with proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and across international markets with all levels of management.
  • Strong influencing, communication, and relationship skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or compliance/legal qualification.
