Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Cheadle, Stockport.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted support to students struggling with mathematical concepts, working closely with individual students and small groups.
  • Assist classroom teachers in delivering high-quality maths lessons, ensuring all students are engaged and able to follow the material.
  • Lead or assist in intervention sessions to help students improve their understanding of key maths topics and prepare for exams.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, identifying areas where students need additional support and working with teachers to address these needs.
  • Assist in the creation and preparation of learning materials and resources that enhance students' understanding and engagement with the subject.
  • Help students prepare for GCSEs and other assessments by providing revision sessions, practice exams, and one-on-one tutoring.
  • Support the maintenance of a positive and focused classroom environment, helping to manage behaviour and ensure that all students can learn effectively.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to students, encouraging a positive attitude towards maths and academic achievement in general.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • A strong passion for education and working with young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • A proactive approach to helping students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
  • Experience working with young people or in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
