Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of the academy's premises, including grounds, buildings, and facilities. This will involve a range of tasks, including:

  • Carrying out daily ground maintenance, such as grass cutting, pruning, and weeding
  • Ensuring that all hard surface areas and paths are kept free of litter, leaves, and other debris
  • Marking and maintaining sports facilities
  • Carrying out security procedures, including operating the alarm system
  • Undertaking cleaning duties as required
  • Ensuring the maintenance and operation of heating, lighting, ventilation, water supplies, drainage, and sanitation on site
  • Carrying out improvements and maintenance to the building fabric as required
  • Reporting any defects or issues to the Estates Manager

The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be able to work independently, and have a keen eye for detail. They will also have a basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and be able to operate a range of equipment, including lawn mowers and power tools.

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in maintenance and operations, preferably with experience in a school or educational setting. The ideal candidate will have a range of skills, including:

  • Qualifications to A Level or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Sound training in one or more of the following: plumbing, general and ground maintenance, electrical/building maintenance, heating systems
  • Basic knowledge of the operation of heating, ventilating systems, and common causes of malfunctions
  • Knowledge of maintenance and security systems and procedures
  • Understanding of appropriate cleaning methods and standards
