The Role

We are seeking a Senior Development Underwriter to join our team in London. As a Senior Development Underwriter, you will be responsible for driving the profitable growth of our London business. You will join an established and high-performing team underwriting larger and more complex UK business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to drive new business growth and retention.
  • Underwrite larger, more complex new business cases consistently and profitably.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced underwriters to develop their underwriting and sales skills.
  • Lead underwriting and sales visits to larger clients and prospects.
  • Provide leadership to ensure that the target retention rate for the region is achieved.
  • Develop close, effective relationships with brokers to develop new opportunities to contribute to the team's new business target.
  • Keep abreast of the competitive landscape from market moves to new product launches.

Requirements

  • An excellent understanding of UK retail business and underwriting larger, more complex risks.
  • Excellent knowledge of the insurance market, industry, competitors, brokers, and factors that can affect the market, including soft/hard markets.
  • Ideal ACII qualified or exempt through relevant experience as defined by the FCA.
  • Excellent relationship management and sales skills.
  • Ability to lead underwriting and sales visits to larger clients and prospects.
  • Ability to coach and mentor less experienced underwriters in underwriting and sales skills.
