We're looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Rullion. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality projects investigating tritium, ensuring the quality and safety of these activities.
About the Job:This is a fantastic opportunity to work on hydrogen and tritium research, using your technical expertise to drive innovation and success. You will contribute to the development of internal bespoke equipment or sourcing external solutions, applying your technical knowledge to perform complex engineering assignments and produce deliverables for difficult problems.
Responsibilities:- Deliver high-quality projects investigating tritium, ensuring the quality and safety of these activities.
- Contribute to the development of internal bespoke equipment or sourcing external solutions.
- Apply technical knowledge to perform complex engineering assignments and produce deliverables for difficult problems.
- Collaborate with external partners (universities, public sector research establishments, and industry) to complement UKAEA's internal capabilities, provide access to additional expert knowledge, and facilitate new project proposals.
- Produce technical documentation in line with project requirements, e.g., requirements, technical specifications, datasheets, workpacks, equipment lists.
- Liaise with interfaces and chief engineers to support project through technical control process.
- Support project through design stage gates (concept, preliminary, detailed design, installation, commissioning, and decommissioning) and reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, design reviews, etc).
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or higher.
- Highly motivated individual demonstrating initiative.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing science/engineering skills.
- Good verbal and written communication and diplomatic skills.
- Possession of or progress towards accreditation with a professional body (e.g., IEng or CEng) preferred.
The salary range for this role is between £58,000 - 68,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
