Job Title: Executive Medical Director

The Executive Medical Director will play a critical role in leading the professional leadership of medical staff, pharmacists, and clinical scientists across the Trust, ensuring high-quality and compassionate care for patients and service users.

This is a key position that will embed clinical leadership across the Trust, promoting a culture centered on patient safety, learning, improvement, and innovation in line with the Trust's vision.

The Executive Medical Director will work closely with the Executive Director of Nursing to ensure patient safety and high-quality care remain central to the Trust's strategic direction and decision-making.

As the senior medical professional in the Trust, the Executive Medical Director will lead the development of the clinical strategy and its underpinning medical workforce strategy, ensuring robust systems are in place for revalidation of doctors and quality undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the professional leadership of medical staff, pharmacists, and clinical scientists across the Trust.
  • Develop and implement the clinical strategy and its underpinning medical workforce strategy.
  • Ensure robust systems are in place for revalidation of doctors and quality undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Education.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Nursing to ensure patient safety and high-quality care remain central to the Trust's strategic direction and decision-making.
Requirements:
  • Registered Medical Practitioner with current, unblemished GMC registration and membership of the relevant Royal College.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • A proven track record of medical leadership underpinned by an understanding of the NHS and its relationships with Primary Care and Local Government.
  • Evidence of significant experience in building effective networks across primary and secondary care.
  • Experience of developing models of care to support people to remain healthy and well and to support care in a non-hospital setting.
