Machinist (Heavy Machine Operator) Job Description

BWXT Canada Ltd. is seeking a skilled Machinist (Heavy Machine Operator) to join our production team in Cambridge, Ontario.

Job Summary

  • Operate CNC and manual machine tools to machine large, heavy components.
  • Program CNC machines and maintain production of quality machine parts.
  • Read and interpret Work Orders, Drawings, and supporting documents.
  • Select appropriate tools and apply knowledge of feeds and speeds.
  • Work in a safe manner, demonstrating good workmanship and practices.
  • Operate Horizontal Boring Mills and machine large components.

Requirements

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship and Certificate of Qualification
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and quality.
  • Knowledge and use of precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and write CNC programming.
  • Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations.
  • Proficiency on horizontal and vertical boring machines.
