About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious coach to join our team as a Performance Development Coach. This is an exciting opportunity to work with young rowers and help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and recruit new rowers with potential to perform on the Olympic pathway through local and national talent identification testing.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local partner organisations to find and develop talent.
  • Coach and develop rowers by planning, organising, and monitoring their technical, physical, and mental development.
  • Review progress with the Senior Performance Development Coach and provide feedback to rowers.
  • Liaise with host clubs, other clubs, and organisations to ensure effective use of facilities and equipment.
  • Support athletes and coaches at local clubs to enhance overall performance in the region.
  • Contribute to the wider work of the British Rowing Regional Hub, including coach development, youth rowing engagement, and pathway programmes.
  • Maintain good care and maintenance of GB Rowing Team boats and equipment.
  • Attend national trials, assessments, and training camps as required.
  • Participate in a network of Performance Development Coaches across the UK, assisting with testing days and camps.
  • Represent British Rowing publicly and contribute to coach education.
Requirements
  • Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • UKCC Level 2 Certificate in coaching rowing or equivalent.
  • Driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
  • UKCC Level 3 Certificate in coaching rowing or equivalent.
  • Towing entitlement on driving licence.
  • Experience working in a successful programme with domestic event success.
  • International coaching experience at U19, U23, and/or senior World Championship level.
  • Experience developing rowers through a long-term development model.
General Requirements
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to plan and implement coaching practices.
  • Good theoretical and practical knowledge of performance coaching and sports science.
  • Ability to motivate rowers and coaches to achieve high standards of performance.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to evaluate performance data and communicate effectively with rowers.
Anti-Doping

The post-holder is expected to be fully conversant with the WADA Anti-Doping Code and its requirements on coaches and Team Support personnel.

Working Hours

The post-holder's hours will be flexible to reflect the needs of the role, with time in evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Standard working hours are 40 hours a week, with flexibility required to ensure core objectives are achieved.
