About the Deputy Manager Position

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team as a Deputy Manager at Heathside Nursery, part of the MiChild Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing daily support to the Nursery Manager and the team, making decisions on the day-to-day running of the nursery, and ensuring that the nursery consistently meets the requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage to a minimum good standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the Nursery Manager on a daily basis and provide daily support for them and the team.
  • Work as part of the nursery team.
  • Make decisions on the day-to-day running of the nursery in the absence of a Manager.
  • Follow all the nursery's administrative procedures.
  • Be a positive role model to other staff throughout the nursery.
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of the nursery's policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the training of staff within the nursery.
  • In the absence of a Manager, manage staffing levels and deploy staff where necessary throughout the setting.
  • Attend meetings as part of the management team.
  • Be flexible with shifts and staying behind to ensure all shifts are covered in the event of staff sickness, etc.
  • Conduct fire checks, read meters, complete risk assessments, and maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Monitor any safeguarding issues following local authority procedures.
  • Prepare the nursery for Ofsted inspections and action any recommendations made by the inspector to ensure a minimum good grade is awarded.

Requirements

  • Must be Level 3 qualified.
  • Have a detailed understanding of the requirements set by Ofsted.
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience of working with children and families.
  • Extensive knowledge of Safeguarding.
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.
  • Managing and maintaining administration requirements.
  • Previous room supervisor/deputy manager experience working in a nursery environment.
  • Enthusiasm, professionalism, and creativity.

Experience

  • Childcare: 2 years (preferred).

Salary

From £26,208 per year (negotiable depending on experience).
