Job Title: Public Health Leadership Specialist

Job Description:
This is a temporary two-day-per-week position until September 2026. The successful candidate will work with our Wider Determinants of Health Unit, leading a programme supporting multi-sector action on wider determinants. Key responsibilities include providing public health strategic leadership, developing effective relationships, and contributing to our long-term strategy priority.

Main Duties:
  • Informing, advocating for, and mobilising collaborative action on determinants of health through the Building a Healthier Wales partnership.
  • Developing effective relationships with members, Welsh Government colleagues, local public health teams, and others.
  • Contributing to Public Health Wales's long-term strategy priority: influencing the wider determinants of health.

Requirements:
  • A successful track record of working with multiple agencies and disciplines at a senior level to achieve public health goals.
  • A good knowledge of current policy and developments in Wales, including the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.
  • Personal credibility in senior managerial and political settings.
  • Practical experience in facilitating change in the public health system.
  • Significant strategic experience of leadership for public health.

Person Specification:
  • Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists and be licensed to practice.
  • Applicants must meet minimum CPD requirements in accordance with Faculty of Public Health requirements or other recognised body.

Salary: £106,000 to £154,760 per year
