Job Summary

The Responsible Person (RP) role is a critical position at Boots, responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining high standards of quality in our wholesale distribution operations.

About the Role

As the RP, you will be accountable for:

  • Ensuring that Boots UK complies with relevant legislation and national competent authority guidance relating to Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and maintaining acceptable standards.
  • Implementing and maintaining a robust Quality Management System to meet regulatory and business requirements.
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and implementing new and emerging legislation related to the Boots UK Wholesale Distribution Authorisation.
  • Developing and maintaining initial and continuous GDP training programs for staff.
  • Performing self-inspections at regular intervals and implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Ensuring adherence to additional requirements imposed on certain products by national law.
  • Acting as Responsible Person (import) and serving as a primary point of contact for national competent authorities.
  • Leading and developing direct reports.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Membership of one of the following professional bodies: Royal Society of Biology, Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland, Royal Society of Chemistry, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Chartered Quality Institute, or Organisation for Professionals in Regulatory Affairs.
  • Expert knowledge of and experience in Good Distribution Practice, as well as regulatory requirements for medicinal products in the UK and Europe.
  • Extensive experience using and maintaining a Quality Management System.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to understand complex problems and facilitate solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with sound attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate with autonomy and limited supervision.

Desirable Qualifications

While not required, experience in project management, understanding of community pharmacy operations, and experience acting as an RP and/or Responsible Person (import) on a wholesale distribution authorisation would be beneficial.
