The Eastern Pathology Alliance (EPA) is seeking a highly skilled professional to fill the role of Network Blood Transfusion Manager. As a key member of the management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the blood sciences department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services across the network.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in directing and managing teams, with a proven track record of effective budget management. They will also possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to operate and plan at a directorate level.

The successful candidate will be a State Registered Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council, with extensive relevant experience at Healthcare Scientist Professional Manager (or Chief BMS) level or above. They will also be an effective role model, demonstrating the NHS's PRIDE values of People focussed, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence.

The post holder will be expected to work at all three sites within the network, including the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, the James Paget University Hospital, and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. They will also be required to contribute to local and national strategic policy, and to prepare advice and proposals that contribute to innovations that enhance the effectiveness of the laboratory's work.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Leading the blood sciences department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services across the network.
  • Providing professional leadership for those members of the laboratory's staff for whom they are accountable.
  • Contributing to local and national strategic policy.
  • Preparing advice and proposals that contribute to innovations that enhance the effectiveness of the laboratory's work.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience of directing and managing a team.
  • Evidence of effective budget managing.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to operate and plan at a directorate level.
  • A State Registered Biomedical Scientist qualification with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Extensive relevant experience at Healthcare Scientist Professional Manager (or Chief BMS) level or above.
