Residential Care Team Leader

We provide comprehensive support to children with complex medical needs, including epilepsy, gastrostomy care, tracheotomy care, ventilator dependency, learning disability, communication, and mobility support needs.
Main Responsibilities- Support the Registered Manager in leading the day-to-day management of a shift, providing practical assistance and emotional support to empower the team in supporting children to achieve their goals and aspirations.
- Lead the team in providing a family-oriented, negotiated care package to meet the needs of children and their families.
- Coordinate the shift, allocate child supervision, and prioritize care needs.
- Act as a role model, demonstrating empathy and sensitivity to others, and promoting a safe, clean, and secure environment for children and relatives.
- Develop skills to meet the individual health, social, emotional, and psychological development needs of children.
- Provide support, advice, and information to children, parents, and other carers as required.
- Implement and use appropriate methods of communication to provide consistency, structure, and predictability, encouraging positive engagement.
- Ensure the provision of the service adheres to the statement of purpose and all relevant legislation.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
- Effective communicator, both verbally and written.
- Knowledge/experience of children/vulnerable young people who have complex needs relevant to the service.
- Displays initiative and approachability.
- Displays sensitivity and awareness to multi-cultural issues.
- Have knowledge of current legislation.
- Ability to coordinate a shift and prioritize care needs.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Ability to coordinate and manage unexpected situations.
- Ability to overcome difficult situations, setbacks, and pressure, and a willingness to get things done.
- Able to work on own initiative and as a team member.
- Have a positive approach to behaviors that could present challenges.
- Experience of working with staff in a supervisory role.
- Driver of minibus.
- Regular requirements to move and handle children/young people, who have a range of physical abilities, in a variety of settings, including community environments, gyms, pool areas, children/young people's homes, and some restricted spaces.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the post, which requires substantial walking, standing, lifting, bending, working on the floor, twisting, and pushing any wheelchair within the children/young people's premises and within the community.
- Relevant qualification to the post in childcare/social work or related subject.
- Diploma in residential care or essential commitment to complete within time-frame.
- NNEB.
- DIPSW.
- NVQ Level 4.
- Good standard of general education.
- Excellent skills.
- Safeguarding qualification.
