Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at VVB Engineering. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering support to projects from design to completion.
Key Responsibilities- Design Review and Development: Undertake mechanical design reviews to ensure compliance with current standards and best practices. Identify and address any design weaknesses or errors that could impact project functionality.
- Design Execution: Develop and implement mechanical designs for projects, including tunnel ventilation, HVAC, and pumped systems. Ensure design risk assessments are compliant with installation parameters.
- Problem-Solving and Engineering Solutions: Provide engineered solutions to key project problems, taking into account client expectations, project restrictions, and budget considerations.
- Design Management and Coordination: Manage all associated design registers, meeting minutes, and drawing registers. Ensure all formal communication is undertaken and managed, including RFIs, TQs, EWNs, and MARs.
- Liaison and Collaboration: Direct liaison with CAD teams to ensure correct drawing modeling and review of drawings for clash detection and interface problems. Liaise with manufacturers to determine product suitability and attend FAT and SAT stages to ensure compliance.
- Project Planning and Coordination: Work with the commercial department to track design changes and variances. Collaborate with the planning department to plan design, installation, and T&C works, providing accurate assessments on forecast works to complete and making suitable readjustments to maintain project program.
- Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor works as appropriate, assisting the commercial department in valuation and contract support.
- Quality and Compliance: Ensure design and works comply with VVB and client quality management systems. Stay up-to-date with all relevant Mechanical, construction, and legislation, law, standards, and best practices.
- Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of relevant Mechanical installations legislation and standards, BIM, and design modeling standards. Experience in design processes and associated compliance.
- Design Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD and Microstation design software.
- Education and Qualifications: HND in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer or qualification leading to this status, and registration with CIBSE or IET or other recognized Engineering Council Institutions.
- Professional Certifications: SMSTS and CSCS Card.
