Energy and Sustainability Manager

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Energy and Sustainability Manager to join our team at NHS Scotland. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering initiatives, tools, and technical managerial guidance to support NHS Scotland in meeting the Scottish Government's sustainability expectations and NHS Scotland's mandatory requirements and policy commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and delivering initiatives, tools, and technical managerial guidance to support NHS Scotland in meeting the Scottish Government's sustainability expectations and NHS Scotland's mandatory requirements and policy commitments.
- Driving forward a change and improvement agenda for sustainability and climate change to ensure delivery of the key objectives of the Board's Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy.
- Working with key stakeholders, including Directors and senior managers, staff, partners, and the communities we serve to develop and implement work programmes that have clear, measurable outcomes.
- Providing expert advice on interpretation of sustainability and climate change data and trends, evidence-based practice, and national policy.
- Influencing and advising NHS Scotland's Property and Estates Strategies on all sustainable development and environmental matters.
- Delivering specialist support to colleagues and partners, including workstream management and project management to achieve sustainability outcomes.
- Providing support and advice on the impact of different clinical and operational practices on the overall sustainability requirements and expectations of NHS Scotland.

What We're Looking For
- Qualifications: Educated to degree level in an environment or sustainability-related subject, or with extensive relevant equivalent experience.
- Experience: Significant experience working at strategic level within a relevant programme area, project planning, management, and implementation, partnership working and negotiation.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of sustainability principles and practice, understanding of NHS or similar complex organisation and related issues and policy, and in-depth understanding of energy management and utilities markets.
- Skills: Ability to analyse and interpret complex information, ability to communicate complex information and concepts to a variety of audiences, ability to work in partnership with individuals and organisations to improve sustainability, and excellent written and communication skills.
