About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Education, Health and Care Plan Coordinator to lead our team within Coventry City Council's Children's Services department. This is a crucial role in ensuring we deliver exceptional support to families and children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across the city.
As a Senior SEND Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Education, Health and Care Plan Coordinators and administrative staff. You will play a vital role in guiding complex casework, resolving conflicts, managing Tribunal cases, and championing a person-centered approach to working with Coventry's families, children, and young people with SEND.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Education, Health and Care Plan Coordinators and administrative staff.
- Provide expert guidance on the Education, Health and Care needs assessment process and ensure timely completion of annual reviews.
- Develop high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans for children and young people aged 0-25, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation such as the Children's and Families Act and the Equality Act.
- Manage a caseload of complex cases across various educational settings.
- Collaborate effectively with families, schools, colleges, health professionals, and social care agencies to ensure holistic support for children and young people with SEND.
About You
We are looking for an inclusive leader who values diversity and promotes a culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will be an experienced individual with substantial working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, The SEND Regulations, and the Equality Act.
You possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and are highly organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively in a busy environment. Your commitment to children and young people with SEND is unwavering, and you are passionate about making a positive difference in their lives.
This role requires line management experience and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. You will be a champion for children and young people with SEND, advocating for their needs and ensuring they receive the support they deserve.
