Job Title: Mechanical Design and Development Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design and Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development of mechanical solutions for complex defence systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Identify, analyze, and specify design improvement projects and NPD projects.
  2. Work with internal project teams and external design partners to solve complex problems and deliver mechanical systems designs that meet regulatory and stakeholder needs.
  3. Manage design evolution, DFMEA, and optimize engineering solutions against requirements, within budget and timescales.
  4. Provide leadership and technical direction on business programmes to ensure delivery of mechanical engineering solutions.
  5. Work in accordance with the mechanical and company design lifecycles.
  6. Formulate prototype designs and produce physical representations.
  7. Provide key support to critical technical problem investigations and deliver effective solutions.
  8. Chair, support, and facilitate reviews and sign off release of mechanical designs in accordance with business and industry standards.
Requirements:
  1. Engineering, Technical, or Science Degree/MSc qualified, or equivalent, with demonstrable aerospace, defence, or related experience.
  2. Demonstrate understanding of engineering first principles applied to problem-solving and concurrent engineering practices.
  3. Experience in mechanical engineering detailed design, including engineering design, analysis, tolerance studies, and generation of technical documentation.
  4. Ability to lead teams and engage with customers, demonstrating the ability to fulfill customer and regulatory requirements.
  5. Able to communicate complex technical aspects clearly and concisely.
  6. Appreciation of Systems Engineering approach and Project Management Fundamentals.
  7. Business awareness, understanding of fundamental business principles, drivers, and key customers with the ability to make effective trade-offs.
